I was meeting a friend of mine for lunch a coupe weeks back, and we decided to meet in Roseville–and decided to meet at a restaurant that I knew was close to the old Shinders location, so I figured I would stop by and take a pic of the old location.
Turns out it was even closer than I thought–I Googled the address of the old Shinders Roseville location address, and then when I went to Google the restaurant…it was actually the exact same address. Turns out, the strip mall that Shinders was in has always just used Suite numbers for the individual stores–and that practice continues today.
The mall itself has gone through some changes, obviously–I think the old Shinders was set back in the mall, so there was almost an outdoor hallway to walk down in front of the stores–today, the Schniederman’s Furniture that I believe is where the Shinders was has a door is all the way out nearly on the curb itself…I think they also must have combined a few of the other old strip mall stores into their location as well.
And of course, the restaurant that we went to for our lunch? Somehow I suspect that it was in fact previously an Old Country Buffet location…

This mall was a bunch of roll up doors in front of the shops so spring and fall the doors were open during mall hours, but winter and the high heat days it was closed for climate control.
Also Old Country Buffet was a theme near Shinders, Crystal had one as well a few doors down.
Yeah OCB was in that Roseville mall. I worked at the Shinders for a few years.
On Google maps you can go back to 2007 and see the Shinder’s sign still at the mall. The door for Shinder’s was closer to those steps. I worked at that location in the mid 90’s.
