Our Take:
I actually followed JK Cards & Collectibles not long after they opened, and made a special trip down to Farmington on a nice Friday afternoon (stopping by another south metro card shop and a comic book shop on the way), and ended up having a great conversation with the owner about how business had been, how he ended up in Farmington of all places, and what the local card shop community was like in terms of helping each other out.
I especially respected the fact that he made the intentional choice to not just feature high end cards–he had a lot of low to mid-range boxes to open, and his singles featured a lot of choices that would be affordable for collectors of all ages.
Can’t say I’ll make it back to Farmington super frequently–but will definitely make a trip back at some point.
