MN Sports Cards

ABOUT

From the Web*:

MN Sports Cards has come a long way in a short time. Founded in early 2022 by four longtime collectors — Owen Collette, Chris Tinvold, and the father-and-son duo of Josh and Brenden Iaquinto — the shop opened on Cedar Street in Monticello with a clear focus: one of the largest selections of unopened hobby boxes and packs in Minnesota, alongside singles, supplies, and Pokémon. That mission resonated quickly, and the store doubled in size before outgrowing its original location entirely. In May 2026, MN Sports Cards opened a brand-new, custom-built 4,400-square-foot standalone building on East Seventh Street — a significant milestone for what began as a hobby shared between a father and son.

The inventory spans sports cards across all four major leagues plus Pokémon and non-sport cards, with a full line of singles, hobby and retail boxes, graded cards, autographed cards, and supplies. Bargain boxes in the $3–$5 range make it accessible for casual collectors and kids, while the sealed product selection draws serious hobbyists from well beyond Monticello. The store buys and trades, and offers free appraisals — useful for anyone sitting on a collection and wondering what it might be worth. Facebook is the most active social presence, with a weekly “Big Hits” feature that showcases notable pulls from the week prior.

The review record is limited in volume but uniformly positive — a 100% recommendation rate on Facebook and strong early Google feedback consistently highlights the knowledgeable and friendly owners, the clean and well-organized store layout, and fair pricing. For collectors in the western suburbs or anyone making a run up I-94, the new Seventh Street location puts MN Sports Cards right off the interstate corridor and makes it an easy and worthwhile stop.

Our Take:

Unfortunately we haven’t made it up to Monticello to check out this card shop yet–although we have a good friend in the card community up north that at least used to regularly stop in, and he was very positive in his reviews of the store. Hoping to make a northern swing at some point this spring/summer with the weather getting nicer.
