Our Take:

When I first saw the pictures of the Real Sportscards storefront when they opened, it looked like the Mecca of card shops to me–unlike a lot of the card shops of my youth (frankly including a lot of Shinders locations), it looked modern, uncluttered, clean…and had lounging areas for opening cards, watching sports or the breaks happening live, since Real Sportscards is a 3x Industry Summit Breaker of the Year award winner (and one of the few places I have participated in a break). Visiting the store for the first time…it wasn’t quite what I expected–it definitely is modern, uncluttered and clean…but it was a bit more of an office type building than I was expecting, and a bit smaller of a store–although the fact that I walked into what must have been a trading night with a whole slew of people didn’t help make it seem any bigger. I would say the store appeared to me (based on the cards in the cases) to be a bit more geared to higher end collectors, although probably more unopened product than you’ll find at most stores as well. Several years ago (before the store opened) I did chat a bit with co-founder Ryan about how they managed some of the breaks (from a technology stand point), and he was super friendly and open with me, which was awesome–he seems like a great guy, and I don’t think you’ll go wrong if you head to the Real Sportscards store.
